GW Guild Wars Necromancer

The best Necromancer guides and strategies are available at Skryer.

The Necromancer is the darkest, most sinister profession available within the world of Guild Wars. Although the character is technically ‘good’, it features skills which would be classified as black magic. Using the forces of hell to summon deadly undead creatures, steal health from corpses and essentially use death derived abilities to its own advantage. The Necromancer is not a very potent physical damage profession and nor is it able to be quite effective in terms of direct spell damage, yet it features a wide array of powerful over time skills. A quality player will use a Necromancer as a support role rather than being directly involved in combat, as many of its skills are very useful to other players.

The Necromancer is the only profession capable of summoning creatures (the Ranger can tame animals). Three different skills are available, one allowing the character to summon a ranged undead creature, another a strong melee and the last being able to summon two weaker undead melee creatures. These skills can only be used if a corpse is within the vicinity, as the necromancer must exploit undead bodies in order to bring creatures to life.

The true strength of the Necromancer lies in its ability to use powerful and long lasting curses and hexes. These are usually either damage over time or deficiency producing skills. Although they are not great at producing heavy damage upon enemies, they rather allow other characters to be more potent against them. Learning to utilize certain skills upon different professions is key, as disabling specific characters can determine living or dieing, winning or losing.
