GW Guild Wars Monk

The best Monk guides and strategies are available at Skryer.

The monk is probably the least favorite yet most important profession available, as it is the ultimate support class. Players wishing to almost always be picked for a group in either player-versus-player or player-versus-monster would probably be inclined to choose this profession as either their primary or secondary. The Monk is able to do use a few very unique abilities, group healing and resurrection. The monk’s purpose is to essentially maintain the team’s health and to bring back to life those who have died in combat. A quality monk is able to keep a team running even when all odds are faced against them. And that said, a monk paired as a warrior can be rather efficient while in combat as he/she would be able to withstand large amounts of hits and heal themselves if necessary. An other advantage the monk has is against undead creatures (including the Necromancer’s summons), as the profession can deal holy damage which is very potent against the undead (includes skeletons, zombies and everything which seems to be living but not)

Players wishing to be an excellent support character should choose the Monk as the class is probably the most essential and useful for any teams. Correct use of healing abilities is required, as it is often necessary to ‘spam’ the skills hotbar. Yet, the profession does not have a great deal of energy points (unlike the Elementalist which has the Energy Storage attribute), hence it often requires exterior sources to gain that extra edge in battle. A good strategy would be of being certain that a necromancer is bringing along a skill known as ‘Blood is Power’, or BiP for short. As the skill will increase the Monk’s (or any character for that matter) energy regeneration rate (appears as little arrows in the energy pool) which will allow the character to repeatedly cast the same healing skills at a quicker rate than it would otherwise be possible.

A relatively large variety of resurrection skills are available to the monk, but it is relatively wise to stick with the simple yet efficient ‘resurrect’ unless a specific situation requires another variety. Because of the Monk’s ability to resurrect over and over again (all other professions have a healing signet which can be used once per mission), it is wise for the Monk to run away from battle if it is considered to be a lost cause, as the character could come back afterwards and bring every character back to life.
