GW Guild Wars Mesmer
The best Mesmer guides and strategies are available at Skryer.
The Mesmer is often considered as the most complex and advanced profession within Guild Wars and it takes a rather long time for a player to master the class, if ever. This is due to the Mesmer’s selection of skills; almost all of them do not deal direct damage but rather reduce the enemies ability to be effective in battle. A quality Mesmer can render other characters to be inefficient and easy prey for allies. The profession is especially effective against spellcasters as it features an enormous array of energy deficiency skills which involve either stealing, eliminating or reduction of regeneration of the foe’s energy pool.
The Mesmer’s skill set not only may affect the energy pool, but many skills can also do damage over time, decrease a character’ armor rating and making them more vulnerable to physical attacks, decrease their running speed as well as render them inefficient in battle in terms of successfully hitting characters with melee attacks.
The learning process in order to become a proficient Mesmer is rather simple, practice and experiment. Unlike the other professions, it is not as straight forward and requires a sly mind to correctly understand how to be effective against the various different characters within Guild Wars (as well as enemy creatures, but the Mesmer is regarded as more potent in player-versus-player than player-versus-monster). Trying various skills out while solo or within the arena is key, as players should try to figure out a few quality anti-profession builds (ie, anti-monk being skill sets which target the characters energy. While anti-warrior would target the character’s armor, movement speed and attack rating).
