GW Guild Wars Guilds

Guilds are an integral part of the Guild Wars gameplay as many of the worldly features available create an emphasis for the need to participate as a group. Due to the large amount of guild features available for players, the hassle of maintaining a guild is reduced and allows much more in-game interaction between the players.

Probably the most useful instance for a guild would be when participating in PvP combat, as groups which are organized almost always outmatch un-organized teams. A group which has had the time to effectively plan a strategy beforehand and puts it to good use through quality communication and devotedness to the tactics laid out is infinitely superior as Guild Wars is all about tactics, not senseless fighting. To demonstrate this through the use of a historical example, you want to be like the Roman army and not the Barbarians. You also need guides and strategies for the various Guild Arenas and those can be found at Skryer.

Available features:
  • Guild Chat – Allows players of the same guild to talk to each other, no matter where each character is located within the Guild Wars world. The text appears in green.
  • Guild Hall – Each guild is supplied with a fabulous guildhall, characters can reach it by using their world map. (More details bellow)
  • Tabard – Each guild can create a custom tabard based upon certain pre-defined emblems. It can be customized by changing the overall look of it through the use of primary and secondary colors as well as changing the overall style. For those who are not quite sure what tabards are, they were often used in medieval times to designate who is who on the battlefield. Guild Wars fans have often referred them as “Hip Bibs”, as they have that certain Bib look at first glance (much more interesting and effective than it may sound).
  • Guild Tag – A sequence of four letters, which appears at the end of each players name (in brackets) and is used to designate which guild each individual is part of. Guild leaders can choose it when first creating their guild. Most often than not, it is an acronym of some sort. (ex: Warlords of Ascalon could use WoA as their tag).
  • Guild Roster – A complete list of each player within the guild and is separated by Leader, officers and members. Leader being able to kick and recruit members, while the officers being able to recruit and members being the peons.
  • Guild History – Displays the latest recruits and by who they were invited.
  • Guild Status – Is used to display a guild wide message.
  • Bulletin Board – An area for guilds to communicate between each other will be available at release.
  • Storage – Personal and shared Guild storage will be available at release. Exact details are unknown. Storage will probably be located within the guild’s guildhall.
Each guild has access to an impressive guildhall, in this location members are encouraged to organize and strategize. The large building is oriental in style and features very expansive fortifications and a slew of mercenaries. Guilds can launch attacks upon other guildhalls from this location, which is great for the competitive nature of many groups.
